Issues & Focus Points
Clean Water
There is no excuse. We must have clean, drinkable water.
We must get off the MIEX resin system, especially after the failure at Plant 4.
We have wasted millions of dollars trying to get this straight and cleaned up.
No matter what the city is telling the residents, there is NO long term data showing what long term health affects the poly acrylic resin has on our bodies.
We must look at municipalities that are doing it right, and follow success.
We must also find a solution for our future water needs, as we have about 5 years worth left.
Infrastructure
The past 2 years have shown that we must find a way to fix problems that arise before they turn into serious disasters. My solution is to ensure that we have proper leadership in place who will put the health of the citizens above politics and self interest groups.
Our leadership must be fully transparent with the citizens.
We must also properly maintain our existing infrasture.
The resin in our drinking water continues to exist and lately we have experienced an abundance of breaks in main water lines. The needs of our residents must come first, especially before the wants of any developer.
And let’s not forget the sewer issues.
Our roads are also not up to par to handle the massive traffic we have.
We must put pressure on our County Representative and the BOCC to take action on the County roads that are overwhelmed.
They helped create this problem, time to fix it.
Limit Growth
The BOCC and St. Cloud City Council have let the tract developers go “buck wild” throughout St. Cloud and surrounding areas in Unincorporated Osceola (St. Cloud).
This has led to many of the issues with infrastructure and traffic as the Joint Planning Agreement between the County and the City continually hurts St. Cloud by forcing the City to give water and sewer to these developments, putting further strain on our infrastructure, and then annex them into the City.
We must stand up to the BOCC and rework this agreement.
Many will say you can’t stop the growth. No, you can’t.
But you can limit it and slow it.
There are many examples of this being done successfully, but you first need to have Council Members willing to fight.
City Code
I have seen too many times watching our Council many residents and small local businesses going before the Council to complain about Code Enforcement or about harassment by Code Enforcement.
This needs to end.
A hard look needs to be taken at the Code and our City’s Code Enforcement.
We must eliminate things that are ridiculous, antiquated, or anything that creates a barrier to our small businesses. We must do everything possible to ensure our small businesses and our residents succeed and thrive.
Support Our Emergency Services
They are there for us when we need them, we need to continue to be there for them.
We are lucky to have such amazing Police Officers, Fire Fighters, and Emergency Personnel.
I will look out for them and ensure that they have what they need so they can continue to do their jobs to the best of their ability and be the elite forces we need.
